What is Jubilee Dance?

We are a joy-filled dance studio! Our mission at Jubilee Dance is to provide encouraging, non-competitive, body-positive, and Christ-centered dance opportunities for all, bringing glory to God. Read more about our story and values here. We offer dance, theater, and art classes for a variety of ages, backgrounds, and needs.

Where are you located?

We have two studio locations. Our central studio location is located at Black Goat Fitness (123 E Mission Ave, Spokane, WA 99202), and our valley location is located at Jazzercise Spokane Valley (321 S. Dishman Mica Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206).

Do I have to be Christian to dance at Jubilee?

No, you do not need to be of the Christian faith to attend our studio. We welcome dancers of all different backgrounds and faiths into our studio. While each class contains a component of faith (a short prayer time, Bible verse, or spiritually inspiring dance movement prompt), participation in this part of class is completely optional.

Is Jubilee Dance a competitive studio?

No, we are a non-competitive studio and do not attend dance competitions. Our focus is on growth, community, creativity, and the joy of dance. While we do offer performance opportunities, they are celebratory rather than competitive.

What should I wear to class?

Each class has specific dress code guidelines to help support safety, movement, and classroom focus. Please refer to our Dress Code page for details by class type. In general, we ask that dancers wear appropriate dance attire and hair pulled back securely.

What level of ballet should my child be in?

Find our age and level breakdown on our Ballet Program page here. If you are still uncertain, please contact us and we will help you find the perfect class placement for your dancer.

Are performances mandatory?

To support our goal of making dance a joyful and encouraging experience, participation in the final showcase is completely optional. Dancers are always welcome to take classes, regardless of whether they choose to perform. Jubilee Dance offers two performance opportunities each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The costume and show fees are included in tuition and after the first month of class, those costs are non-refundable. If you know you will not be performing, you must email kristina.jubileedancespokane@gmail.com to have show fees removed from your account.

Can I observe my dancer’s class?

Parents and siblings may not be in the dance studio during class (though exceptions can be made for new dancers and young ones having difficulty adjusting, in which case, parents must participate in class with the dancer rather than sit and watch on the side for the first class or two). Otherwise, we ask you wait till Parent Week (Tinies have two parent weeks per semester!) or the recital season to see what we’ve been working on! We have an office space available for you to wait for your dancer, the door to which may be propped open if you’d like to be able to hear as long as all those staying in the office at that time can maintain a quiet volume. Please ask the teacher to invite you out for the last few minutes of class to see student progress if it interests you - most teachers will be happy to accommodate this request.

What do I do if I feel sick or injured during the season?

Please notify your teacher right away so she can make sure to be able to zoom you into class from home! 24 hours notice is appreciated and at least 4 hours required, as there may be a case where your teacher is unprepared to do a zoom class if she is notified last minute. Please stay home and clear out a space to dance and imagine that you are in the studio for class! We cannot offer makeup classes at this time. Students may opt for a paid private lesson with a teacher if necessary.

What should I bring in my dance bag?

Here is a list of recommended items that we have put together that can be helpful to have. Not all items will apply to every student. This is meant to be a guide to help students organize their bags and be in the habit of being prepared and responsible in case of dancer emergencies.

Do I get to keep my show costume?

Costumes belong to Jubilee Dance. Costume rental fees are included in your show fee, and all costumes are returned to the studio after the performance. This allows us to reuse them in future performances and supports our commitment to sustainable costume practices and waste reduction.
