Class Descriptions

All classes include a spiritual element, whether it be a scriptural devotional, movement meditation, Bible verse memorization, or prayer at some point in the class. Students of all faith backgrounds are welcome! We do ask that this time be respected as it is an essential value to our dance community.

Awestruck Dance Company - An adult dance company which explores natural movement, creativity, and expressivity as a way to experience dance as relationship with God, self, and others. Read more!

Ballet - Please read below for a detailed word about our ballet program at Jubilee.

Cardio Dance Fitness - Unlimited drop-ins to 32 classes this semester! Similar to a dance aerobics (or Zumba) type class you might take at a gym. Focused on building cardiovascular strength, as well as muscle toning and stretching while having a fun dance party with easy-to-learn movements. Nursery care provided. Read more!

Choir - We are all called by God to sing throughout all of Scripture! No previous experience necessary. Jubilee Youth Choir will sing a variety of psalms and praise songs in unison, while Jubilee Community Choir will practice music theory and sing a few songs in SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass). Both will perform in the Further Up and Further In showcase at the end of the semester.

Creative Ballet - Movement concepts and games, imagination and play, and the development of essential dance skills for younger dance students.

Creative Movement - An exploration of dance concepts, props, materials, choreography, and play with the aim of sharing story and self in the context of a dance community.

Conditioning - An add-on dance workout to build strength and flexibility focusing on the honing of dance technique for our dancers wishing to get the most out of their dance training.

Contemporary - storytelling movement with dance technique based in ballet, strength and flexibility building, and student choreography

Hip Hop - high energy, fast moving hip hop dance choreography with conditioning and stretching

Jazz - Jazz technique and choreography class with warm-up, across the floor, choreography, and stretching

Lyrical - Lyrical technique and choreography class with warm-up, across the floor, choreography, and stretching

Mommy and Me - A new baby and toddler dance class at Jubilee! Using Anne Green Gilbert’s baby dance curriculum, we will use dance concepts and scripture to have a sweet time focusing on our babies and sharing a special dance moment with them and other moms (or caregivers).

Musicality and Body Awareness - Learning movement to grow spatial awareness of ourselves and others, and using instruments to create awareness of rhythm and beat for healthy brain development.

Storyline Dance Company - By application only. Jubilee’s youth outreach dance company! 1.5 hour rehearsals every other week. Multiple opportunities to share and perform in the local community and abroad throughout the year. Culminates in an annual mission trip to White Swan Indian Reservation in Yakama, WA.

Tap - Tap technique and choreography class with warm-up, across the floor, choreography, and stretching

Theater/Musical Theater - Theater games, skills, improvisation and scene work, as well as basics of musical theater dance. No previous experience required. Ages 7-17.

Turns and Leaps - A technique add-on class which focuses on practicing various turns and leaps.

Worship Lyrical - This class is an invitation for you to come into God’s presence and partner with the King of Kings through movement and creative expression.

Jubilee’s Ballet Program: 2023-2024

The Jubilee ballet staff is excited to share updates to the structure of our ballet level offerings to enhance your child’s positive experience in ballet class. Ballet classes are listed as numeric levels: Levels 1A, 1B, 2, and 3. The difficulty of the class increases with the levels. Level 1 is a beginner class and Level 3 is the most advanced student ballet class we currently offer. The goal is to more closely align our classes with ballet technique-based curriculum rather than solely going off of a student’s age. We are providing rough age outlines below, but please note there will always be exceptions depending on a child’s experience, and the Jubilee ballet staff is more than happy to talk with you about which class will allow your child to thrive and grow in both ballet technique and their love for dancing for Jesus!

  • Tinies (age 3-4) and Littles Ballet (age 5-6): Our youngest dancers will not move into numeric levels until they are old enough. For now, we will provide opportunities for them to experience tons of fun and games in ballet and nurture their love of dance.

  • Level 1: Ages 7-10

    • One or two classes per week (optional)

    • 1A is for dancers new to Level 1 or wishing to continue to work on their Level 1 skills and 1B is for dancers who have taken at least one Level 1 class previously and are ready for more to prepare them for Level 2.

    • Leotard color: Royal Blue

  • Level 2: Ages 9-14

    • One or two classes per week (two recommended)

    • Ballet 2/3 - Students who have previously taken a Ballet 2 class and are working towards Ballet 3 skill mastery are invited to participate in this more advanced class.

    • Leotard color: Burgundy

  • Level 3: Ages 12+

    • Two to three classes per week strongly recommended

    • Leotard color: Black

We ask each level to wear a specific leotard color to equalize the classroom environment. This increases focus on the dancing and praising of our gracious God, and remove any dress-related distractions. It’s also quite fun for your dancer to get a new leotard color as they progress through the levels - it’s like earning your stripes and a proud moment for any ballet student!

Leotard scholarships are available for students who would like to apply for one. Want suggestions on tights and shoes, too?
Shoes: Check out samples here and here
Tights: Check out samples here and here

We also have AMAZING local dance boutiques like Spokane Dance Boutique and Empire Dance Shop where you can ask for help. We love our local dance shops!

A Jubilee Ballerina
It’s easy to get caught up in levels and leotards, colors and class times. But when it comes down to it, what’s important is your dancer being in a class with other dancers that they feel comfortable with and share similar ballet experience levels. A Jubilee ballerina is poised, confident, gentle, elegant, strong, disciplined - and we want to do everything we can to support their development and growth in these attributes.
